“It is the spirit and not the form of law that keeps justice alive”. Earl Warren
We are living in the nation where laws are made only for the purpose of LAW. Same is the case with the Cyber Crime Law made by the honorable and well learnt intellectuals (so called ) of our country.
According to English Oxford dictionary, Spoofing is
,” an imitation of something, especially a film, in which its characteristic features are exaggerated for comic effect; a parody”.[1] That is the dictionary definition of spoof.
When we talk about the term spoofing with reference to the cyber crime, there are couples of terms that need to be defined before declaring spoofing, a crime or not.
According to the
Prevention of Electronic Crimes Bill, Spoofing is defined as:
Whoever establishes a website, or sends an electronic message with a counterfeit
source intended to be believed by the recipient or visitor or its electronic system to be an authentic source with intent to gain unauthorized access or obtain valuable information which later can be used for any unlawful purposes commits the offence of spooling.
In technical terms spoofing refers to the hiding of one’s identity or to show fake identity.
E-mail Spoofing: E-mail spoofing is the forgery of an e-mail
header so that the message appears to have originated from someone or somewhere other than the actual source.[2]
IP Spoofing: IP is a network protocol operating at layer 3 (network) of the OSI model. It is a connectionless model, meaning there is no information regarding transaction state, which is used to route packets on a network. Additionally, there is no method in place to ensure that a packet is properly delivered to the destination.
MAC Spoofing: Mac spoofing refers to the generation of fake MAC address. To avoid being traced, one can generate bogus MAC address. This can not be criticized because every one wants privacy. To keep one’s private data safe or un traceable one perform such techniques. An when in Pakistan, we have to do this as we know that law is to make criminals free.
Spoofing--A crime or Not:
By pondering upon the facts we can say that the definition of spoofing given in
Prevention of Electronic Crimes Bill is a fake definition. Moreover it’s against the local rights of a citizen to be watched and regulated .Government has no right to destroy our privacy. But unfortunately, in our country, to rise against crime is itself a bigger crime then any other. We can raise our voice against this criminal “crime law”. But it would be a crime itself and there is a possibility that we become part of “
MISSING” people...
